The Ministry agrarian policy and food of Ukraine together with Ukrainian walnut the Association has developed the "Concept of development of the walnut industry in Ukraine".

This was reported by Victor Kostenko, head of development Department horticulture, viticulture and winemaking of the Department of agriculture and technological policy in agriculture of the Ministry of agriculture at the conference "the Millionaire from nut".

According to this document, by 2025 it is planned to increase the area of the industrial walnut gardens up to 25 thousand hectares and to make the plantings forest belts of nut crops on a total area of 10 thousand hectares.

Now he said, in Ukraine there is a shortage of estate material. "For this program we need 2.5 million walnut seedlings vaccinated and 3.7 million seeded seedlings", - said the representative of Ministry of agrarian policy.

The development potential of the industry is very big.

According to Viktor Kostenko, Ukraine at the end of last year is the fourth largest producer of nuts in the world - 116 thousand tons.

"We see that today in Ukraine there are 60.3 million hectares of land. Of these, 32.4 per million hectares is arable land, and including 424 thousand hectares, where you can comfortable to plant nuts ", - he stressed.

According to experts, the implementation of this programme requires UAH 2.8 billion.

For effective development of the industry nuts production in Ukraine its financial security it is advisable to allocate between the parties the agri-food sector: potential manufacturers, investors, lenders and government, said Victor Kostenko.

In turn, the participants noted that an important source investment can be a special Fund of the region, which will be formed in a 2% fee of the value of export supply of nuts, they are derivative products and wood.
