On the shelves of Ukraine appeared cheap currants from Poland. Prices on the Polish berry is so low that even after the clearance does not exceed 10 UAH/kg.
It is reported UBR.ua.
"The level of overproduction in Poland is that the frozen berry has already after customs clearance in Ukraine is UAH 8/kg," confirms Director "Ukrainian berry" Taras Bashtannyk.
According to him, the poles can afford to sell cheaper berry cost. They don't go into "minus", because they get serious support from the state.
Currant Ukrainian origin on the domestic shelves too a lot. Ukrainian farmers are constantly expanding the area under this fruit, so now the offer is much more than demand.
According to experts, the low price of currants to hold more for a few years. The rise in price is possible, except that, provided that the production and consumption of currants, at least, will regain their equilibrium. Then maybe the situation will repeat in 2012, when the combine currants took $3 per kilogram (24 USD at the then exchange rate).
"Currant berry is very high-tech. For example, unlike raspberry, it can be removed with a harvester, grown without irrigation, and seedlings are penny. Therefore, a low threshold of entrance in this market and relative ease of doing business attracts many entrepreneurs," – explains Taras Bashtannyk.
